Jo Kwon suffered from depression during his trainee years

2AM’s Jo Kwon revealed how he was able to become a popular star.

The idol appeared on SBS’s “Good Morning” on March 7th, and talked about his life as a trainee, discussing the hardships he experienced in order to become a singer.

Jo Kwon first became a trainee in 2001 after appearing on a TV audition show, when he was merely a 6th grader. He became a trainee under JYP Entertainment, and underwent rigorous training alongside Wonder Girls‘ Sunye.

He even appeared on SBS’s “Best Friend Note 3” last year, and talked about how being a trainee was the hardest moment of his life. “I was fearful because I didn’t know when I would be cut. I even suffered from depression during those eight years of training“.

Jo Kwon was finally able to debut in 2008 with 2AM, and together, they won 1st place on many music charts for “This Song“, “Can’t Let You Go Even If I Die“, “What Do I Do?“. He also captured many hearts and became the delight of variety shows, after he showed off his hilarious ‘kkap‘ acts on TV.

During the broadcast, Jo Kwon’s elementary and middle school years were also revealed. He stated that he carried the dream of becoming a singer ever since he was young, and cited his personal goal to become a multi-entertainer.
